So it’s your vacation weekend and you’re looking to do something relaxed. You don’t want to go through the hassle of packing for an excursion, but something chill that’s close to home. You are racking your brain on what you can do in the city.

Should you get a nice room downtown at the Marriott, lounge in the complimentary robe, while indulging yourself with $15 grilled cheese with trimmings like duck confit? Or do you want to try a new restaurant that all your friends have raved about on the other side of town that you know will burst both your wallet and your stomach?

Decisions, decisions! I understand the struggle and don’t worry. There are plenty of options for a great staycation. If you are adventurous and are willing to compromise the lavish trimmings of self-indulgence I can promise you two things. The first is that you will be relaxed beyond belief. The second is that you find that the level of self-indulgence you attain will save you way more money.

The solution is simple: yurting. Yurting is the new way of combining the adventurous trip of campus with the self-indulgence associated with hotels. Yurts allow you to “glamp” or experience lavish camping with all the comforts you are accustomed to at home.

A yurt is a round, modular dwelling that is accompanied with beds, electricity, and lockable doors. You might have to walk to a bathroom or showering facility but is always close by. Just in Georgia, there are several options that will provide all the amenities and options of home with the added benefit to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The first place I would recommend is Stone Mountain Park. They have yurts that are located on a serene lake so you can experience the bliss of water in a secluded area. They come with windows, a fan, and skylights, heating and cooling, and log furniture. The yurts are $125 a night with a two night minimum that fits 5 people.

There are also yurts near Callaway Gardens at the Pine Mountain RV resorts. The yurts are stacked with fresh linens, windows, and come equipped with heating and cooling. Their size ranges can accommodate 4 to 8 people. There is a two night minimum but the prices are flexible and range from $73 to $90.

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway for you and your significant other there are yurts for that, too. In Dahlonega, the Cedar House Inn yurts are perfect for a romantic rendezvous. They are for adults only and provides 2 beds with romantic ambiance and a secluded setting that’s ideal.

These yurts come with more than the standard amenities including a mini refrigerator, microwave, linens, and a full vegetarian breakfast every morning for the ultimate staycation experience. With these added amenities and features comes a price bump of $155 but if you’re looking for something personal then this is the best spot.

All in all if you’re looking for something new but comfortable then look no further. Make sure on your next staycation to Yurt it up!
