Tips for Festival Camping
It’s hot, the sunrise has woken you up at 7am, you’re covered in sweat and yesterday’s glitter and you’ve had about 3 hours of sleep. But! You’re camping at a festival, surrounded by your best friends watching your favorite bands live until the middle of the night. Nothing can beat this thrill.
If you’ve never been to a camping festival, it’s something I really recommend!
Even though its consecutive days of late night, early mornings, no showers, and sleeping in a tent—camping at a festival with your best pals is such a great experience. Some of my favorite memories are from festivals I’ve attended including: Middle Lands, Float Fest and Bonnaroo.
To prepare you for your first fest, I have prepared a list of essentials that you probably didn’t think about that you’ll need to survive for camping at a festival.

1. Baby Wipes
In most cases of camping at a festival, you’re not going to have access to a shower (yikes), and if you do, you’ll likely have to pay for it. Luckily, baby wipes have been delivered by the heavens and can substitute as a good shower for the next three days of your festival activities.
2. A portable, cordless fan
Did I mention the sweat? This is a big one. It gets HOT at night and you’re going to want the sweet relief of a little breeze to keep you cool. Not only that, but it will provide some nice ventilation in your tent as well. I recommend hugging it at night for extra cooling.
3. Table
Having a table set up will make day-to-day activities so much easier between you and your friends. A table is a place to eat, to set drinks, play cards, or whatever you need. Seriously, you won’t realize how much you need one until you don’t have one.
4. Water
Though you think it a necessity that the festival would provide, but you’d be surprised at how difficult it can be to get water sometimes. I suggest buying a few jugs and keeping them in your car or a cooler to fill up your water bottle throughout your stay. You’re going to need to stay hydrated.
5. Canopy tent
Aside from the tent that you will be sleeping in, a canopy to eat under and hangout under is essential! It will save you from the sun and keep you a lot cooler. Two of the festivals I have attended have been in the middle of summer in Texas, if I didn’t have a canopy to shade myself, I would’ve been a burnt crisp. Which reminds me—don’t forget you SUNSCREEN!
Hopefully these tips will help you prepare for your next adventure of festival camping!
It’s honestly one of the best experiences you can have. So grab your friends, put on that fanny pack, apply some glitter, and go have the time of your life! Remember to be safe
